Mikel Merino has signed a new contract with Real Sociedad.
The former Newcastle United midfielder has penned a deal to 2025, which will carry a €60m buyout clause.
Merino, who turned 24 in June, will continue in this way for five years at La Real and will have the longest contract in the squad, alongside that of Ander Barrenetxea.
Merino was regarded as La Real's outstanding player for the season that has just ended, marking his second campaign at Anoeta.
He arrived from Newcastle in exchange for €12m.
