Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic gave Samuel Eto'o his debut in their embarrassing defeat to Torino.
Eto'o made his debut for the final 20 minutes, by which point the game was already lost.
Mihajlovic said: "I said when Eto'o arrived that one day, sooner or later, he'd be able to play with his full class and experience, but in the meanwhile mustn't become a distraction. All the media attention on Eto'o could unconsciously have been a distraction, but we have to get used to it, as he'll be here for 18 months."
