FC Midtjylland chief Claus Steinlein concedes pricing Jens Cajuste out of a summer transfer away.
Brentford, Newcastle United and Rennes were all keen on Cajuste, but the young Swede eventually remained with FCM.
Steinlen told TV3: "He is a fantastic player and there were lots of offers for him. But we probably demanded too much, and Jens had not been on the field because he came late from the national team and had a small injury. And I think it is the things overall that made it not succeed in this window.
"If you want 10 million euros, you have to say no to 8 and 9 million euros, that's how you negotiate and sometimes it does not end the way you want. We are usually good at pricing our players, but this time it was perhaps a little too high."
