Premier League new boys Middlesbrough have cooled their interest in Robin van Persie, according to The Guardian.

Recent reports suggested that Boro were keen to sign to the Fenerbahce striker but it is understood that manager Aitor Karanka is unlikely to go down that path.

Van Persie's representatives are reportedly keen to move the 32-year-old on from Fenerbahce and have offered him to the Teessiders.

However, Karanka will not go after the former Arsenal and Manchester United star despite contact being made.
