Middlesbrough are planning a surprise summer move for Monaco's Radamel Falcao.

The Bleacher Report UK suggests that Boro could offer the Colombian striker the chance to remain in the Premier League.

Falcao endured a difficult spell on loan at Chelsea last season, following his disappointing 12-month stint with Manchester United, and is believed to be keen to prove himself in England.

Falcao's agent Jorge Mendes has close ties with Boro boss Aitor Karanka and that has led to the speculation regarding a potential transfer to the Riverside Stadium.

Karanka wants an experienced forward in his squad for next season as the Teessiders look to establish themselves in England's top flight following their promotion from the Championship and it is understood that 30-year-old Falcao fits the bill despite his woes in the UK.
