Former Liverpool defender Daniel Ayala has been offered to Leeds United.
The Mirror says Leeds have turned down the chance to sign Ayala on a free.
Ayala has left Middlesbrough after rejecting the club's offer of a short-term deal for the rest of the season and will be a free agent on July 1.
Ayala's agent is trying to find him a new club and approached Leeds' director of football Victor Orta.
Orta knows his fellow Spaniard Ayala from his time at Middlesbrough, but he has rejected the opportunity to sign him.
Leeds will need a new centre-half when Ben White's highly-successful loan spell ends next month and he returns to his parent club Brighton.
