Middlesbrough to bid for Tottenham's Mido

Boro boss Gareth Southgate is planning a £2 million bid for the Egypt international.

Mido first joined Spurs on an 18-month loan from Roma, and the deal was made permanent last August.

However, Mido made just 12 Premiership appearances over the course of the 2006/7 campaign, scoring once. He weighed in with four more goals in 11 outings in cup competitions, but with the arrival of Darren Bent at White Hart Lane, he is now fifth-choice striker under Martin Jol and looks set to leave.
