Mexico defender Ricardo Osorio has been sent home from the CONCACAF Gold Cup because of illness.
The 31-year old Monterrey full-back did not make the trip from Dallas to Charlotte with his El Tri teammates following their 5-0 win over El Salvador on Sunday and the team's Director of National Teams Hector Gonzalez Inarritu confirmed that the former VfB Stuttgart man had returned home.
"Our policy has always been to give our players all the support from a health and family point of view," Inarritu said.
"That's the primary concern. The sporting side is also important but we have been consistent in giving players our backing and that's what is important.
"Right now what we want is for him to get better so he can return and join us once again."
Osorio will not return to the United States tournament after complaining of pain in his urinary tract and he will now receive further treatment on Monterrey.
