Meulensteen: Solskjaer had everything right for Man Utd win in Paris

Former Manchester United first-team coach Rene Meulensteen has reviewed their win at PSG.

United won 2-1 in Paris last night for their opening Champions League group game.

Meulensteen told BBC Sport: "It seems a very good hunting ground for Manchester United because they won there 19 months ago as well in a dramatic last-16 game.

"It was an excellent performance. Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] and his staff had everything right from team selection to tactics and deserved the win.

"Neymar normally plays near the front but he dropped really deep so that three central defenders didn't have too much to worry about. It was all coming from wide areas and the moment Neymar dropped he was picked up by Fred and [Scott] McTominay, so they stifled all their threat really well.

"They had this poor performance against Tottenham where they lost 6-1. They bounced back really well against Newcastle, which was not easy because the players all went on international duty, so that was a good response.

"What the team did yesterday - there was an organisation, a discipline, effort, energy, urgency and those elements have been lacking in a few of the previous games, but it was all there."
