PSG ace Lionel Messi is full of praise for Argentina teammate Emi Martinez.
Argentina won 3-0 against Uruguay on Monday night, and while the attack showed itself well, it is instead at the other end that captain and goal scorer Messi offered his praise.
Indeed, Messi says Aston Villa goalkeeper Martinez is among the best in the world.
Via Bold, Messi told TNT Sports: "Dibu (Martinez) is fundamental.
"When the opponents come, he is always ready."
Messi says Martinez's presence and form was key to Argentina's summer Copa America triumph in Brazil. It marked Messi's first ever trophy at senior international level and he has made clear how grateful he is to his teammates for the achievement - including Martinez.
Messi added: "He showed up again after the impressive Copa America, and we have without a doubt one of the world's best goalkeepers, and we benefit greatly from that."
Martinez is now in his second season with Aston Villa, having joined almost 18 months ago from Arsenal. The Gunners brought the 29 year-old to Europe from Independiente 11 years ago.
