Manchester City fullback Benjamin Mendy says Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo would be welcome at the Etihad.

Ronaldo has cast doubt on his future with Real after cryptic comments made at the end of Saturday's Champions League final victory over Liverpool.

The former Manchester United attacker is understood to be unhappy that his demands for a new contract have been rejected by Real's board.

Asked about the situation, Mendy says City's players would be happy if Ronaldo joined them next season.

He told Telefoot: "Could I welcome Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester City? Ah, why not? For all the top players, we have to take them."
