Manchester City fullback Benjamin Mendy believes Marcelo Bielsa had a say in his transfer.

Mendy played for Bielsa at Olympique Marseille and knows the Argentine is close to City boss Pep Guardiola.

"Did Bielsa mention my name to Guardiola? It's possible," Mendy told Telefoot.

The fullback left Marseille last summer for City, though suffered an injury plagued campaign.

Despite the setback, Mendy has earned a place in France's World Cup squad.
