Melbourne Heart on verge of snapping up ex-Udinese youth Migliorini

A-League club Melbourne Heart are believed to be close to signing Italian midfielder Andrea Migliorini.

The 25-year old has emerged as a short-term contingency plan for injured Dutch marquee recruit Orlando Engelaar who sustained a broken leg in his first practice match with the Heart last month.

Migliorini, who is a product of Udinese's youth program, has played with Livorno, Real SPAL and FC Koper during his career and will bring sturdiness to John Aloisi's midfield.

"Andrea played 60 minutes over in Perth (in a friendly on Saturday) after just jumping off the plane two days before hand and performed really well," said Aloisi.

"He's a good talented player and he grew up at Udinese so he's got good schooling. I think he'll do well in the A-League."
