Melbourne Heart's Bolton: Liverpool's Jones, Reading's Federici, Dortmund's Langerak all in line for Socceroos

A-League veteran Clint Bolton believes the current crop of goalkeepers in Australia has the national team in a very safe place.

The Melbourne Heart gloveman wrote in his column for the Herald Sun that Australia's handful of best keepers are top-class, suggesting that the transition when Fulham great Mark Schwarzer finally ends his international career will not be so tough.

"Australia has had no trouble producing keepers," Bolton wrote.

"From Ron Corry, Jimmy Fraser and Tony Franken to Mark Bosnich and Zeljko Kalac, the Socceroos have always been protected by safe pairs of hands.

"And with the sun slowly setting on Mark Schwarzer's career, there is no shortage of potential replacements - headlined by (Reading's) Adam Federici, (Liverpool's) Brad Jones, (Borussia Dortmund's) Mitch Langerak and (Central coast Marienrs') Mat Ryan.

"Pound for pound we go close to producing the best goalkeepers in the world."
