Mehmet Ali wants more from Arsenal U21s despite strong start

Mehmet Ali wants to see more from his Arsenal U21s side despite their strong start to the season.

The Gunners have collected three wins from their opening three games.

"I think [moments of adversity] will happen within games but as the season goes on it will get more difficult," he told football.london after Wednesday's 2-1 win over Swansea. "At the moment we've got some senior players who are supporting us and tonight if I'm being honest, with the players we've got on the pitch [ Fabio Vieira, Emile Smith Rowe and Cedric Soares ], we should go and win this game, but there's gonna be evenings where it's really difficult and that's really important.

"That's where I want us playing with a younger team because it's going to help players on their individual journeys. It's great winning and dominating games, which is what we've done, but our challenge is can we do that with some of the under-17s, under-18s, first year pros?

"Our job is to push our young players to be ready for the first team and that is something that will happen throughout the season and that's something that is planned and what we want, and it's our job to see who can react when there is adversity and when it's difficult."
