DC United have announced a deal with sports marketing firm Octagon for striker Wayne Rooney's marketing and media rights in North America, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

Rooney, who moved to the Eastern Conference franchise in the summer, has agreed a deal along with his agency Triple S Sports to maximise his global reach and opportunities during his time in America. The deal will see Octagon work with Rooney and Triple S on various projects on and off the pitch to boost the 32-year-old's stock across the country.

Triple S Sports' managing director Paul Stretford commented: "Octagon are one of the most respected sports rights sales agencies and fit perfectly with our wider commercial ambitions for the Wayne Rooney brand throughout North America.
