Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay admits their thrashing by Tottenham is tough to take.
Four of Tottenham's six goals came after Anthony Martial's red card in the first half, but United were way below par for nearly all the game.
McTominay told MUTV what Solskjaer said at half time: "The message was to show some b******* and to go on the pitch and really show yourself as a Manchester United player. Not to shy away, not want the ball, and not make any tackles. Never has that been Manchester United, never ever."
The midfielder then revealed how United's 'hurt' players had responded to the defeat, their second successive reverse at home in this Premier League season.
"Difficult, so difficult to take in the atmosphere in the dressing room. Not easy at all," added McTominay.
"The pressure at this football club to play at the highest level every week is big, so if you want to take on that responsibility and play at the highest level, you have to show that on the pitch every single second you're on the pitch. You have to train like it's your last ever training session.
"And for us, the goals we conceded today were nowhere near good enough from what I've seen when I was playing. Difficult to take.
"That's football again. You get these shock results. They come around, hopefully never again in your career. Everybody in that dressing room, I can assure you, is very very hurt.
"It's been a difficult day and it's not as easy as you go home, see your family and it's not going to hurt. It's not like that."
