McLeish chasing bumper Birmingham pay-rise

Alex McLeish is seeking a bumper pay-rise as he opens new contract talks with Birmingham City.

The Sunday Mirror says the former Scotland boss is one of the lowest paid Premier League managers on about £15,000 a week.

He'll sit down for talks with Yeung and his Chinese consortium this week and insist he wants to come into line with other top-flight bosses.

McLeish admitted: "When I joined the club I told my lawyers to get the deal done and dusted quickly so I could get on and prove myself in the Premier League.

"But when you make progress you then look for parity with your contemporaries."

He added: "I don't see why Birmingham City cannot fulfil all of my ambitions in management."
