McKennie father thanks Leeds fans who backed son 'in hostile environment'

Weston McKennie left Leeds and England just hours after their relegation was confirmed with defeat at home to Tottenham.

The on-loan Juventus midfielder was taken off on the hour mark and was barracked by home fans as Spurs won 4-1 at Elland Road.

McKennie's father, John, took to social media to confirm his son was immediately cutting ties with Leeds.

He wrote: "All the best to LUFC! For those who supported Weston in a hostile environment you have my respect!

"For those who failed to remember it's a team sport you live to fight another day."
