McInnes looking for next Morris or Duberry at Aberdeen

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes says he would love to lure a couple of experienced pros to the club this summer.

McInnes signed former Chelsea midfielder Jody Morris and ex-Blues, Leeds United and Stoke City defender Michael Duberry during his time at St Johnstone and hopes to pull off something similar at Pittodrie as he feels these types of players are well-suited to the Scottish Premier League.

"If we can bring in a couple of signings of the calibre of two players who made a huge difference to St Johnstone, that would be quite significant," he said.

"You want to bring in players who will make things better. Not just squad players, but those who will go straight into the starting side.

"Jody and Michael enjoyed the profile of the SPL, rather than playing League One football in England.

"While we can't compete financially with the Championship or with some League One clubs, we can offer players something in Scotland.

"If there are good players available who were keen to come to Scotland, then Aberdeen would be to the front of their minds.

"I've been here only a short time, but I can see the benefits of the city. Our club has a lot going for it."
