McEachran: Chelsea coaches want me to follow Lampard example

Josh McEachran has revealed his Chelsea coaches want him to follow Frank Lampard's example.

The 17 year-old midfielder is Chelsea's answer to Arsenal starlet Jack Wilshere.

"No-one has told me to stop playing my natural way," he told chelseafc.com.

"I do want to score more goals. Chelsea say to me look at Frank Lampard. I need to get in the box more and score more and that will help me as a player, so I will try that more this season."

His totals last season were two goals in 19 youth appearances. He didn't find the net in nine reserve games but his contribution is not in doubt.

"Last year was a really good for me. I didn't perform very well in the early stages of the Youth Cup, I don't know what happened really, but in the semi-finals and final I thought I picked up my game and I played well.

"Then came the European Under 17 Championships and England were favourites going into it but we watched Spain a few times and we were impressed with them. In the final against them it was a good game and we played well and deserved to win.

"That is the first time England has won a tournament since 1993 and they say it was the strongest crop they have had for 10 years. Hopefully a few of us can push on. I am in the Under 19s now and I go away to Belgium in a couple of weeks to the qualifiers."
