Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren is confident that winger Florian Thauvin will eventually find his feet at St James' Park.
The former Marseille star arrived in a £13million summer move with a fair reputation but has failed to hold down a regular place in the Magpies lineup.
When asked if it's too early to write the 22-year-old off, McClaren said: "Too soon, too soon."
"He was outstanding in that first game but he has just not kicked on.
"Some players are like that. They give you that and then they dip and some don't even come again.
"But I see definite signs of his adaptation in the last few weeks, certainly in training and again on Saturday when he was excellent after coming on.
"When you see the things he can do out there and when he puts it all together, you don't give up."
"He is getting stronger and working harder in the gym. And he's developing a better understanding of when he needs to keep the ball and when he can try things."
