McCarthy excited by early Blackburn form

Benni McCarthy has backed manager Mark Hughes' claims that "something special" is being built at Blackburn Rovers this season.

McCarthy told Radio Rovers: "We have got great players here now and it is far more difficult to get in the first XI.

"People love winners, nobody loves a loser. Whether you score or not, if your team is winning it is great. As long as I am playing I am happy."

McCarthy says there is a special bond in the dressing room.

"There is no jealousy here - the players compliment each other," he said. "We have clean air, there is a lot of banter and that is great."

Blackburn have taken eight points from four games after defeating City and McCarthy added: "It is great credit to the lads and great credit to everyone who played a part.

"We stood our ground, worked hard and got three points. Now we are back in the top half of the pack again."
