McCarthy eager to tie down Spurs, Everton target Connell

Republic of Ireland coach Mick McCarthy is eager to see Bolton Wanderers midfielder Luca Connell tied down.

Ireland lost Declan Rice to England this season and Connell, 18, also qualifies for the Three Lions.

Connell has attracted interest from Premier League clubs and can leave the club in the summer as he is a third-year scholar at Bolton.

His international future will look clearer should he play against Denmark or Gibraltar in Euro 2020 qualifiers.

The Sun says Tottenham, Wolves, Everton and Norwich are among the clubs closely watching his availability following administration.

Southampton and Brighton are also interested and had bids rejected in January.
