Germany legend Lothar Matthaus has urged RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner to reject a move to Liverpool.
The 59-year-old who captained the 1990 World Cup-winning side, fears that the striker could become a squad player if he moves to Anfield.
He told BILD: "I can imagine that Timo Werner will not leave Leipzig after all.
“The clear announcement to Bayern that he doesn't want to come shows that he wants to have peace and quiet.
“With Liverpool, he would have to ask himself whether he wouldn't be too sad as an additional player.
“If Leipzig show that they can continue to play for titles in the future, then that, in combination with coach (Julian) Nagelsmann, would be the best argument to remain."
