Lothar Matthaus believes that Leroy Sane is the perfect type of player for Pep Guardiola.
Despite some struggles early in the season, Sane has reclaimed his place in the Manchester City team.
He has emerged as a key member for the team on the left flank. And German legend Matthaus is impressed with what he has seen from Sane.
He wrote in his column for The Sun: "The only thing that surprises me is that Pep wanted to let Jadon Sancho go and kept Sane.
"He paid £37million for Sane and sold Sancho to Borussia Dortmund for £8m.
"Then again, I think Leroy is the perfect player for Guardiola's system and style.
"And he has improved at City, absolutely. He was only 19 when he left Schalke. That was his home-town club, he had come from the youth team.
"It wasn't like me, leaving Bayern for Inter at 27, for fresh motivation and a new experience.
"He moved to play for one of the best coaches in the world, who can only improve players — and he has done that with Sane."
