Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic says he is to blame for their humiliation at Everton.

United fell to their biggest Premier League loss since October 2016 as Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Lucas Digne and Theo Walcott took advantage of a shambolic United display.

"Nothing worked for us today," Matic told TV2 after the game.

"I, who am the most experienced player in the team today, did not play well. We can't blame the young lads. I was the biggest problem."

Matic was making his first appearance since the 2-1 win over Watford on March 30 and Jamie Carragher, while acting as a pundit on Sky Sports, said the midfielder played "like he's towing a caravan".
