Martinez delighted with Everton's winter market business

Everton boss Roberto Martinez was delighted with their winter market campaign.

The Blues boss brought in winger Aiden McGeady and striker Lacina Traore, while John Heitinga and Nikica Jelavic were allowed to depart Goodison Park.

Defensive duo Leighton Baines and Sylvain Distin also put pen to paper on new contracts, while 17-year-old goalkeeper Jindrich Stanek came in as one for the future.

"We're really happy and really pleased," said Martinez. "January is one of those windows where, if you haven't performed well, you need to find a change and bring players in. But it's a big risk and sometimes clubs need to take that risk. In our position, it's different, you want to keep that stability.

"We were very pleased to sign Leighton Baines for the long term, sort the new contract for Sylvain Distin and then, on top of that, we bought two very important additions.

"In January, if you want to bring players in, they need to add something extra but to bring in people of the quality you already have in the dressing room is nearly impossible.

"We have two outstanding footballers in Aiden McGeady and Lacina Traore, so we're really pleased with what we've done."
