Olympique Marseille midfielder Kevin Strootman has paid tribute to new Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman.

Strootman fell out with Koeman when he was in charge of Holland, but put their differences aside to congratulate him on his new job.

He posted to social media: "Coach, you replaced me as captain, you took me off the team, but you made the people and the players proud to play and work for the team again.

"You have brought Dutch football back to its place. This is only what matters.

"Good luck in Barcelona."
