Marseille midfielder Dimitri Payet has granted one young West Ham fan a birthday he'll never forget.

The Daily Mail reports Payet uploaded a video to Olympique Marseille's official twitter account on Lucas Campbell's 10th birthday to invite him to be his guest of honour for the game against Metz on February 2.

Despite many fans turning their back on the Frenchman, Campbell continued his unrelenting support for Payet and news of the birthday surprise left him emotional.

He thanked Payet and told him: "I really like you... and see you later.. you're still my favourite player."

Marseille hammered Metz 6-3 and although his favourite player failed to get on the scoresheet, Campbell's birthday treat ended with some Payet one-on-one time.
