Olympique Marseille defender Rod Fanni believes Nice have taken a massive gamble signing Mario Balotelli.

The former Liverpool striker joined Nice last week.

Fanni, a former Nice defender, said: "It's like playing Russian roulette. It may be fine if you have your head in the right place, it'll be bad otherwise.

"I do not take this lightly, however, his recent seasons have not been positive. If he chose to go to Nice, it is because he wants to make a change. To go there, considering the size of the club, his pride must have taken a small fall.

"It will show his true face, it will not be easy."
