Marseille bundled out by Benfica

A dramatic night in France has seen Marseille bundled out of the Europa League by Portugal's Benfica.

Following a 1-1 draw in the first leg, Marseille took a slight advantage with their away goal and it looked even better when Mamadou Niang netted with 20 minutes remaining.

But disaster struck for the French club when Maxi Pereira hit back five minutes later to make it 1-1 on the night and 2-2 overall before substitute Alan Kardec to score in the final minute and break the hearts of the Marseille fans as they saw their beloved team knocked out of the tournament 3-2 on aggregate.
