New signing Rafael Marquez opened his account for New York Red Bull on the weekend.
The Mexico national team captain netted his first goal for his new club with a powerful strike in the 35th minute to open the scoring in the 4-1 triumph over Toronto FC at BMO Field on Saturday.
The win kept the Red Bulls in second place on the Eastern Conference table and Marquez said it put them in a great position to clinch a playoff berth.
"It's a great win to help us secure our way into the playoffs," Marquez said through a translator.
