New England Revolution are releasing foreign pair Marko Perovic and Ilija Stolica.
Perovic, who led the Revolution with six goals last season, was declared out for the season after undergoing knee surgery this month. Stolica was loaned to FC New York of the United Soccer Leagues after the Revolution signed Rajko Lekic in April.
Dejan Drobnjak, Perovic's agent, said he was "shocked'' by the move and hoped the Revolution would reconsider.
"Marko always loved Boston,'' Drobnjak told boston.com. "He has a bad injury and wasn't able to play, but he is loyal to his teammates and the city and the people. It doesn't make sense to release him.''
