Central Coast Mariners coach Lawrie McKinna hopes to snap up Sheffield United midfielder David Carney for their Asian Champions League campaign. The Mariners are part of United's global club network and McKinna said: "I know he's looking for a move and if nothing happens for him in the transfer window maybe we can get him on loan for six months to play in the ACL.

"I think playing in the Champions League will be preferable to playing reserve team football."
