Central Coast Mariners boss Nick Montgomery says Garang Kuol's goals against Macarthur FC highlight his talent.

The 18-year-old, who is signing for Newcastle United in January, is in Australia's 2022 World Cup squad as well.

The teenager scored twice in a 3-2 defeat for Central Coast Mariners, as he signed off before heading to Qatar with his international teammates.

"We know in key moments he's lethal and on that angle, that finish, that's why he's going to the World Cup," Montgomery stated in an interview with Reuters.

"That's why Graham Arnold picked him over everyone else because that's what he can produce."
