Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz insists he had little to do with Sevilla over summer.

Sevilla management are adamant they'd have signed the former Lyon striker if not for Real's buy-back option.

Mariano said, "It was all fast, as you know, it was exciting when Madrid called me to come back. It was what I wanted and here I am, I get a call from Julen (Lopetegui), I'm very happy and here I am.

"I did not know who he was, I did not expect the call at that moment, he told me that he would be delighted to see me back, I told him that I was the same and he explained everything to me."

On Sevilla, he added: "This topic is for my representative with the club, Sevilla was interested in me, something I really appreciate, and then Madrid appeared, which is the club of my dreams, and here I am."
