Mariano Diaz is happy to be off the mark for Real Madrid.

Mariano scored in the Champions League win over AS Roma on Wednesday night.

He said, “I couldn't wait. I try and work hard every day to repay the support the fans have shown me. Wearing the number 7 is an enormous responsibility because the players who have worn it in the past were and will continue to be legends.

"I intend to keep working hard, we're a team and we're teammates, not rivals. Everyone congratulated me at the end of the game and I'm very grateful. I think the team has started really strongly, we're playing well and we'll try and go as far as we possibly can".
