Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce has revealed that Vito Mannone still remains his first-choice goalkeeper despite Jordan Pickford's impressive league debut against Tottenham last week.
The England U21 international is set to return to the bench for the upcoming home against Bournemouth despite making a string of fine saves in the Black Cats' 4-1 defeat at White Hart Lane.
"Vito Mannone's first choice," Allardyce said.
"It's up to Vito now to keep young Pick at bay. He knows young Pick's eager to take his place and there's strong competition."
Pickford recently returned to Sunderland following a successful loan spell at Preston North End.
