Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick would be playing for Crystal Palace if their chairman Simon Jordan has his way.
Jordan told FourFourTwo: "I agreed a deal for Michael Carrick while he was at West Ham but he wouldn't even return Iain Dowie's calls.
"But I can understand that [now], because I wouldn't return Iain Dowie's calls either."
Jordan, who fought a bitter legal battle with former manager Dowie, also recalled Palace trying to sign Tim Cahill from Millwall and Dean Ashton from Crewe but failed with the latter because, he admits, "Dario Gradi doesn't like me."
