Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick hopes to get a chance to impress England boss Fabio Capello this week.
"I am hoping to get a chance," he said. "That is why I am here.
"I am eager to get involved and want to play for my country as much as I can.
"I have played a lot of games in Europe for Manchester United and feel I have gained a lot of experience since the last World Cup.
"I am sure that will help me if I get a chance on Saturday."
