Manchester United defender Scott Wootton is aiming for the first team.

Controversially signed from Liverpool, Wootton has been impressive for United through the youth ranks and admits he looks up to Rio Ferdinand.

Wootton told the Times of Malta: "It's important that you take the opportunity when it comes and keep working hard to achieve your goals.

"For me it has to be Rio Ferdinand.

"I know that he has had some criticism lately but he's a top defender. I've always admired how calm and confident he is."
