Manchester United youngster Shola Shoretire is delighted to be playing for Bolton.

The youngster is on loan for six months at the League One club, who will offer him regular game time.

The 18-year-old has played for United's first team, but is not presently in the plans of coach Erik ten Hag.

"It was a pleasant surprise to see how good Bolton actually are, losing 4-0, we thought we'd get a draw and take to penalties, but I think they play good football, similar to what we do at United," Shoretire told Bolton's in-house media.

"I think it was a great game to develop and learn. After the game, I found out they had an interest and I was delighted because it's a great opportunity and now we've made it happen. The first training session today went well - the lads welcomed me.

"Coming through the United academy, you get a pathway and for me I was patient. To make my debut and break a couple of records as well was excellent, so I think a lot of the pressure has sort of gone now because of the level I've had an opportunity of."

"It's key to get first-team football, to get the experience and to prove that I'm ready, mentally and physically," Shoretire added.

"Coming here, I think being 18, I've transitioned into being a man now and this is exactly what I needed.

"It will put me in a good place coming back to United. Hopefully I have a good loan here. I can play anywhere across the front line really, even in midfield sometimes, but I think the focus here will be as an attacking midfielder.

"Turning on the ball, going forward and trying to play attacking football. I think it makes me a lot more confident coming here know I've got people I can relate to. Also, the next step, being in the men's team but also having people my age around to talk with.

"The second half of the season is the last push really and we'll give whatever it takes to get as many wins as possible."
