Man Utd youngster Norwood eyeing Championship loan

Manchester United young gun Oliver Norwood admits he is open to a winter loan to add to his current experiences at Scunthorpe United.

The 20-year old midfielder, on loan with the Iron in League One, is keen to continue developing his game in a first team environment but says he may move to the championship when his stay at Glanford Park finishes at the end of the month.

"Before I joined Scunthorpe, the gaffer (Sir Alex Ferguson) pulled me and said he wanted me to go to a Championship club at that time, but Alan Knill came in and said I would play," the Northern Ireland international told skysports.com.

"He likes Alan Knill, he likes the way he plays football and I think it has done me good coming here.

"I have learnt the horrible side of the game. You have got to get your tackles in, win your headers and stop the opponent from playing and I am grateful to Alan Knill for giving me the chance to prove to people I can play at this level and play at a higher level.

"My time at Scunthorpe expires in January and I spoke to [United reserve team boss] Warren Joyce and I mentioned to him about January and he said they had not looked that far forward as yet and he just told me to keep performing and playing the way I have done and let other people worry about that.Championship clubs will want to take me but it is a bit far to be looking that far ahead yet."
