Manchester United are prepared to wait a year to sign RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.
The Daily Mail says the 21-year-old defender scuppered any hopes clubs had of landing him this year by signing a new contract.
But included in his three-year deal is a release clause which allows him to leave in 2021 if his £38million asking price is met.
United are now prepared to activate that clause with Upamecano topping their list of defensive targets.
United have given up on landing Upamecano this year even with the transfer window extended until October.
