The Manchester Evening News says United are open to loaning Pellistri to ensure he gets regular playing time at senior level.
Pellistri, 19, joined United from Penarol for €9million on deadline day in October but is yet to make his first-team debut and has played eight times for the Under-23s and Under-21s.
The Uruguayan tested positive for coronavirus earlier this month but United are prepared to loan Pellistri this month once he has made a full recovery.
United have no intention of loaning fellow teenage recruit Amad Diallo now the winger has arrived from Atalanta. Diallo, 18, started training with his new teammates last week and United rejected Atalanta's attempt to keep Diallo on loan for the rest of the season.
Pellistri has scored three times for the United second string and was an unused substitute in the Champions League group stage wins over Paris Saint-Germain and Istanbul Basaksehir.
