Man Utd will not attract Bale, Ronaldo, Lewandowski or Muller - May

Former defender David May believes that Manchester United are no longer able to attract the likes of Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski or Thomas Muller.

Despite their struggles in recent times, United remain one of the most financially powerful clubs in the world and the Red Devils continue to be linked with the very best players in the world from such clubs as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

However, former United defender May does not think the club will be an attractive enough destination for the aforementioned players, especially if they go on to miss out on the Champions League this season.

Speaking to 888sport.com, May said: "You hear it every day where Bale is coming or Cristiano Ronaldo is coming back and I realise they have to sell newspapers but never in a million years is it going to happen.

"Don't get me wrong I would love Gareth Bale to come to Old Trafford. But is it going to happen? I can't see it. Not right now. Top players always want to play in the Champions League and if United do miss out will Bale come to United?

Will Robert Lewandowski or Thomas Muller? I know with the money involved these days you can pay way over the top to make sure you get these great players but would they come without Champions League?

"It becomes a huge burden if United don't get in the Champions League."
