St Etienne are prepared to sell Willam Saliba this summer - even if he signs a new deal.

Manchester United, reports Le 10 Sport, are in contact with ASSE about a deal for the defender - which involve him spending next season on-loan with the Ligue 1 club.

However, before agreeing terms, ASSE want to secure Saliba to a new contract in order to strengthen their negotiating position.

The stopper still has two years to run on his existing deal, but ASSE aim to upgrade terms before formally inviting offers for Saliba beginning at €30m.

United are not alone, with Premier League rivals also lodging enquiries with St Etienne in recent weeks.
