Manchester United under-21s have claimed a positive result against Rochdale in the EFL Trophy.

The Red Devils' youngsters battled for a 0-0 draw in the competition, and came out on top in the penalty shootout.

It is a result that moves them to the top of Group B in the tournament with five points.

United have a very young under-21 team, which is encouraging for the club.

More than half of the team that started could have played with the under-18s, given their age.

United were impressive in the game, but both sides had chances to score.

However, the goalkeepers put up solid displays, leaving the result to the lottery of a penalty shootout, where United came out on top.
