Manchester United have joined the interest in Penarol youngster Facundo Pellistri.

The Athletic reports United could head to South America for an alternative option to Borussia Dortmud whiz Jadon Sancho.

Penarol winger Pellistri has been linked with several European clubs and now managed by former United striker Diego Forlan, it is believed the 18-year-old could follow in Forlan's footsteps.

The winger would reportedly cost a fraction of Sancho's £100m price tag at just £10m, but with Pellistri not having European competition, it may be more a calculated risk for United.

Manchester City are also interested in Pellistri.
